The World Athletics Championships witnessed remarkable performances as Yulimar Rojas, Haruka Kitaguchi, and Noah Lyles took center stage with their impressive victories. Despite challenges, these athletes demonstrated their resilience and prowess, capturing the essence of athletic excellence. Yulimar Rojas, the world record holder and Olympic champion in the women’s triple jump, faced adversity as she found herself in eighth place with only one jump remaining, measuring 14.33m. However, the Venezuelan athlete rose above the odds, delivering a stunning final leap of 15.08m to secure her fourth consecutive world title. Her remarkable feat was acknowledged as she triumphed over Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk of Ukraine (15.00m) and Leyanis Perez Hernanedez of Cuba (14.96m). Expressing the significance of her victory, Rojas shared, This is my seventh world championship gold in a row (outdoors and indoors), but this is the most special of all of them. My last attempt was proof of the hard work I have done, my mental state, and my self-confidence. The women’s javelin throw showcased the prowess of Colombian veteran Flor Denis Ruiz Hurtado, who set the bar high with a first attempt of 65.47m. However, Japanese athlete Haruka Kitaguchi, who had previously struggled to exceed the 63m mark, seized the moment with a remarkable throw of 66.73m, clinching the title and expressing her belief as the key to her success. In the men’s 200m final, American sprinter Noah Lyles secured his third consecutive world title in the distance, clocking in at 19.52 seconds. His achievement marked a historic moment, as he became the first man since Jamaican legend Usain Bolt in 2015 to achieve the 100m and 200m double at the World Championships. Lyles’ teammate Erriyon Knighton claimed silver with a time of 19.75, while Letsile Taboo of Botswana took third place in 19.81 seconds.
