The Bengaluru police have taken swift action by arresting the driver of a water tanker involved in an incident that resulted in an electric pole crash, injuring a 21-year-old college student. Priya, a student at a prestigious private university in the city, sustained significant burns amounting to 35 percent of her body, necessitating her hospitalization for medical treatment. The unfortunate incident occurred in Sudduguntepalya near Hosur Road, falling within the jurisdiction of the MICO Layout Traffic Police Station. Preliminary reports suggest that the incident unfolded when cables from an electric pole became entangled with a water tanker passing by. As the vehicle continued to move, the cables were forcefully pulled, ultimately leading to the collapse of the electric pole. The situation escalated further as the fallen cables were then tugged by a concrete truck, which inadvertently caused the pole to crash onto the young woman. The impact of the fall caused the cables to snap, generating a spark that triggered a fire, inflicting burns on the student. The MICO Layout police registered a case and swiftly detained Sunil, the driver of the water tanker, for questioning. Investigations into the incident are actively underway. This incident follows a similar occurrence on August 19, where a 23-year-old man was severely injured after an electric pole crashed down onto him on Kariyammana Agrahara Main Road in Devarabisanahalli. Local media reports indicate that the victim remains in a coma, battling for his life. The recent incidents highlight the importance of ensuring the safety and stability of electric infrastructure to prevent such accidents and protect the public from harm.
