Within the next 100 days, water will be pumped and drained in the first phase of the Ettinhole project,   DCM and Irrigation Minister DK Shivakumar said.

He spoke at a press conference on Tuesday after visiting Hebbanahalli Power Substation and Doddanagar Pump House in   Sakleshpur in connection with Ettinahole project.

The purpose of the Ettinhola project is to divert a total of 24 TMC of the water flowing in the Western Ghats to Kolar. I had visited and inspected it earlier when I was the Minister of Water Resources. The work is still there as it was then.

The cost of this project has increased to 24 thousand crore rupees and I am not satisfied with the progress of this project. So I personally came and checked. I have visited some areas. There have been complaints that the scheme has been hampered by officials using their own laws.  . The problem of electricity department, forest department problem, land owner problem including solution has been suggested for everything.  Necessary load shedding has been notified to complete this project. Forest department officials have agreed to cooperate in solving forest area problems.

The Deputy Commissioner has said that he will solve the problem of acquisition of revenue land. Based on their assurance, we have fixed a time limit of 100 days to pump the water of the first phase of the project, Shivakumar said.
