Legislator HA Ikbal Hussen has emphasized the importance of balancing academics and extracurricular activities during the inauguration of cultural, NSS, Red Cross, Rangers, and sports programs for the 2025-26 academic year at the Government First Grade Women’s College here on Tuesday.
Addressing students, he highlighted that such platforms allow students to showcase their talents and urged them to actively participate whenever opportunities arise.
Hussen stressed that student life should be value-driven, and hard work is essential to achieve higher goals. He assured that necessary facilities, including bus services, would be provided, and civic authorities had been directed to resolve sanitation issues near the college. He encouraged students to enhance general knowledge by reading books instead of relying solely on mobile phones and to contribute to the college’s reputation through excellent academic performance.
K. Raju, district president of the Guarantee Scheme Implementation Committee, advised students to rise above caste and religious differences and participate in building a morally strong society.
AB Chetan Kumar, president of the City Development Authority, highlighted that extracurricular activities complement academic growth and announced plans for bus shelters to support student transportation.
City municipal commissioner Dr. Jayantha emphasized parental guidance and adherence to faculty advice as key to student success. College principal Dr. G. Shivanna requested legislators to provide clean drinking water, UPS systems, green boards, computer tables, and desks. The event was attended by municipal members, committee heads, faculty, and students, including Byregowda, Guruprasad, Revanna, Nandini K.N., Dr. Vishwanathayya, and Srinivas Gowda, reflecting strong community involvement in fostering holistic student development.
