UAE’s swift-paced bowler, Junaid Siddique, has incurred a 25 per cent fine of his match fee, along with the addition of two demerit points to his disciplinary record. This penalty stems from two Level 1 breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third T20I against New Zealand in Dubai on Sunday. Siddique’s actions resulted in an official reprimand and the addition of one demerit point to his record, in accordance with article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. This article pertains to language, actions, or gestures that could disparage or provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon their dismissal during an International Match. The incident transpired during the fifth over of the New Zealand innings when Siddique approached the dismissed batter, Tim Seifert, and issued an aggressive shout. Furthermore, Siddique was fined 25 per cent of his match fee and another demerit point was appended to his disciplinary record for a subsequent violation later in the same match. This breach related to article 2.8, encompassing the showing dissent at an umpire’s decision. The second occurrence transpired during the 17th over when Siddique displayed dissent by employing inappropriate language towards the umpire after an appeal for dismissal was rejected. Siddique accepted responsibility for the breaches and acknowledged the sanctions proposed by Andy Pycroft of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, rendering a formal hearing unnecessary. On-field umpires Akbar Ali and Shiju Sam, along with third umpire Aasif Iqbal, imposed the charges.
