Five individuals have been arrested in connection with these drug seizures. The contraband was recovered from locations near the inter-state borders with Manipur and Mizoram. In the first incident, based on a tip-off, an operation was conducted near the Manipur border at Kulicharra-Idgah road in Dholai area. Suspected to be heroin, around 780 grams of narcotic substances were found hidden inside soap boxes within a vehicle. Three individuals named Anam Uddin Talukdar, Bachan Ali Sekh, and Fayeh Ahmed Mazumder were arrested for their alleged involvement in drug peddling. In the second incident, the district police carried out an operation near the Mizoram border at Sonai-Kabuganj Road. Approximately 120 grams of suspected heroin were seized, and two individuals identified as Mehbub Alom Mazumder and Abul Hussain Laskar were arrested in connection with the drug seizure. The Superintendent of Police of Cachar, Numal Mahatta, mentioned that the source of the narcotics is still under investigation, and it’s uncertain whether the drugs were brought from nearby states. Given the proximity to border areas, the possibility of an interstate drug network is being considered in the ongoing investigations.
