The BJP in Bihar has strongly criticized the decision to rename the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Park in Patna, asserting that the move disrespects the memory of the late Prime Minister. The renaming of the park to ‘Coconut Park’ was initiated by Bihar’s Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Minister, Tej Pratap Yadav. The state government has announced plans to renovate and subsequently inaugurate the park under its new name. Reacting to this decision, Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, expressed his dismay, suggesting that leaders of the Mahagathbandhan coalition are attempting to tarnish the legacy of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Rai emphasized that Vajpayee not only resided in Bihar but also holds a revered place in the hearts of all Indians. Rai questioned the motives behind changing the park’s name and warned that such actions could lead to further name changes, such as renaming Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s name in the future. Samrat Chaudhary, the BJP state president of Bihar, criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for allowing the renaming of the park dedicated to Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Chaudhary pointed out that despite Kumar’s claims, his actions contradict his words and demonstrate a lack of respect for the late Prime Minister’s legacy.
