A courier delivery man, Shahid Khan, faced a brutal attack by a group of four men in Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar, Ghatkopar East, Maharashtra, when he asked them to return his lighter. The incident occurred on August 18 when Khan, aged 34, was returning home from work around 1:15 a.m. As he neared Gausiya Masjid in Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar, one of the men approached him to borrow his lighter for a cigarette. Khan obliged and handed over his lighter. However, when the man did not return it after using it, Khan requested it back, which led to a verbal altercation. The situation escalated when the man refused to return the lighter and started using abusive language. He then called three friends over, and the argument turned into a physical assault. The situation took an ugly turn when the man not only refused to return the lighter but also started hurling abuses at me. He then summoned his three friends, and the argument escalated into a physical assault, recounted Khan to the police. The four men attacked Khan with a rod and bamboo that they had picked up. Khan suffered severe injuries, including blows to his face, head, shoulder, and back, along with punches and kicks to his stomach and back. After the assault, the attackers left the scene, allowing Khan to escape and reach his home. He shared the horrifying incident with his wife and informed his brother. Concerned for Khan’s well-being, they rushed him to Rajawadi Hospital, where he received medical treatment for his injuries.
