The city is once again grappling with the resurgence of criminal activities, as a distressing incident unfolded in Ramamurthynagar. Miscreants targeted an elderly woman, subjecting her to a violent attack while she was walking on the road with her granddaughter. The incident, aimed at stealing her necklace, has left the woman hospitalized and the community shaken. Reema Parameswaran, a resident of 5th Main, NRI Layout, Kalkere, was accompanying her granddaughter back from a dance class during the evening hours, approximately between 8:30 and 8:45 pm. Seizing the opportunity, the assailants, riding a two-wheeler, attempted to snatch her gold chain. Courageously, Reema held onto her necklace, prompting a scuffle between her and the thieves. In their attempt to seize the necklace, the culprits forcefully pushed Reema to the ground. Subsequently, they made their escape on their two-wheeler, leaving the scene of the crime behind them. Tragically, the violent encounter resulted in severe head injuries for Reema as she fell to the ground. The impact left her unconscious, and she was rushed to a nearby private hospital in TC Palya for immediate medical attention. Due to the gravity of her injuries, she was later transferred to Manipal Hospital in Whitefield for specialized treatment. Reema’s daughter, Shruti, provided a glimmer of hope, assuring that her mother is in the process of recovery and her life is not in danger. The incident was all the more concerning as Reema’s granddaughter was present during the harrowing attack, although she fortunately escaped any life-threatening injuries.

The family, who has been deeply affected by this traumatic incident, is left grappling with shock and confusion. At present, they remain unaware of the identity of the attackers.
