‘Safeguarding sovereignty a shared duty’

Uttarakhand Director General of Police Deepam Seth hoisted the national flag at the Police Headquarters in Dehradun, marking the celebrations of India’s 80th Independence Day. During the event, he administered an oath of national unity to all attendees and highlighted that safeguarding the country’s sovereignty is a shared duty.

Addressing the gathering, DGP Seth paid rich tributes to freedom fighters and immortal martyrs whose supreme sacrifices secured a free nation. He emphasized that protecting the unity, integrity, constitutional values, and democratic framework of India is the collective responsibility of every citizen, noting that police personnel have always stood at the forefront of this mission.

The DGP praised the exceptional professionalism and competence of the Uttarakhand Police. He pointed out key operational successes, including managing secure arrangements during the Prime Minister’s roadshow, executing the high-profile Nyaya Sanhita exhibition, and ensuring the smooth safety and traffic regulation for millions of devotees during major events like the Char Dham Yatra and Kanwar Mela. He also lauded the force’s accomplishments in cybercrime management, passport verification awards, and disaster rescue models displayed during critical operations.

Highlighting personnel welfare, Seth shared that over 950 officers and staff members received timely promotions over the past year to boost motivation. He extended deep appreciation to all frontline workers, traffic personnel, wireless operators, and cyber experts, describing them as the real strength of the state police. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of prestigious commendation discs and certificates to selected police personnel for their distinguished service. Collective responsibility of everyone to protect the unity and integrity of the nation, the Constitution and democratic values.
