Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev hoisted the national flag at Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar to mark India’s 80th Independence Day.
Addressing reporters after the ceremony, he made a passionate appeal to citizens to break down all walls of hatred rooted in caste, community, or religion, and called for a collective pledge to dismantle the legacy of the ‘divide and rule’ mindset.
Highlighting the true essence of freedom, Ramdev stated that the nation belongs equally to its 145 crore citizens rather than any single political party or ruling establishment.
He emphasized that true independence means prioritizing the country’s self-respect and building a strong, self-reliant system across education, healthcare, and the economy.
While acknowledging India’s rapid growth across various sectors, he urged the youth and citizens to focus on constructive nation-building rather than falling prey to hostility or division.
Addressing political dynamics, Ramdev remarked that political leaders should engage in healthy democratic discussions rather than treating each other as bitter enemies. He noted that power rests with the collective will of the country and advised both the ruling alliance and the opposition to foster mutual respect and goodwill.
The Yoga Guru also addressed educational challenges and youth aspirations, stressing that systemic reforms are vital to ensure equal opportunities for every student. He concluded with a strong message of unity, urging all communities to stand together with love and dedication to propel India toward becoming a global superpower.
‘Focus on progress, unity’
Baba Ramdev noted that India is making remarkable progress across agriculture, industry, and the economy. He stressed that true independence means building independent systems in education, healthcare, and finance while prioritizing national self-respect. However, he expressed deep concern over rising hostility. He stated that people from various communities and backgrounds often act with unnecessary malice toward one another. “We must break down all these walls of hatred,” Ramdev told reporters, calling for a collective pledge to stop dividing the nation.
