Bengaluru East City Corporation Commissioner D.S. Ramesh on Thursday directed officials to leave no room for negligence in clearing garbage black spots, removing illegal advertisements, eliminating footpath encroachments and disposing of abandoned vehicles across the Corporation limits. Chairing a comprehensive review meeting with officials from the Engineering, Health and Solid Waste Management Departments, he stressed that public health and civic cleanliness remain top priorities.
Ramesh instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted door-to-door waste collection and scientific disposal of garbage to prevent black spots from emerging. He warned that ward officials would be held accountable if garbage heaps were found within their jurisdiction.
The Commissioner also ordered continuous drives against unauthorized flex boards, banners and buntings, directing officials to remove illegal advertisements immediately and take action under relevant rules. To strengthen enforcement, he instructed the Corporation to constitute a dedicated enforcement team and brand Marshal vehicles similar to Police patrol vehicles for better public visibility.
Special emphasis was placed on clearing footpath encroachments and removing abandoned vehicles after issuing statutory notices. Junior Health Inspectors were directed to report for duty within seven days and take complete responsibility for their assigned wards.
With dengue cases rising in Gunjur, Varthur and Doddakannahalli, Ramesh ordered intensive door-to-door larval surveys, elimination of mosquito breeding sites and legal action against unlicensed nurseries. He also directed health officials to strengthen maternal and child healthcare by ensuring registration of pregnant women, universal immunization and nutrition awareness.
