The under-twenty-one men’s hockey team from Malaysia has officially arrived in the city for an exciting eight-match exposure tour. The visiting squad will test their skills against top-tier local competition, playing five matches against the Indian junior team and three matches against the Sports Authority of India team at the SAI Netaji Subhas Southern Centre.
This special series aims to provide both squads with high-level competitive practice while strengthening sporting ties between the two nations. It also serves as a crucial training phase for upcoming international tournaments, helping coaches try out different player combinations and game strategies.
The Indian junior team will face the Malaysian side on August seventh, eighth, tenth, twelfth, and thirteenth at various times. Meanwhile, the matches against the SAI team are scheduled for August third, fifth, and fifteenth.
Indian junior coach Frederic Soyez shared his thoughts ahead of the opening games. He explained that these fixtures are vital for the team’s preparation leading up to the Asia Cup. He noted that the squad showed great progress during their recent tour in Belgium, and this new series will help build further momentum following a productive week of hard training.
