Bhupender Yadav links EV growth to 2047 Goal

Union Minister Bhupender Yadav urged focusing on green growth, smart infrastructure, and circular economies for India’s electric vehicle shift.

NEW DELHI

Union Minister Bhupender Yadav announced that India’s shift to electric vehicles must focus heavily on green growth, smart infrastructure, and a waste-free recycling system.

Speaking at a national conference hosted by Assocham, the Environment Minister explained that switching to electric mobility is not just about replacing old cars with new technology. Instead, it is a massive opportunity to build a clean industrial system, boost local manufacturing, and create thousands of green jobs. This initiative directly supports the country’s goal of becoming a fully developed nation by 2047.

Yadav stressed that India needs to abandon the traditional “take-make-dispose” habit. Instead, the country must embrace a circular economy where materials are constantly reused and recycled. To become a global leader in clean transportation, he noted that India must build a strong network of charging stations, protect its supply of critical minerals, and master battery recycling.

The minister also highlighted that the government has introduced several major reforms to speed up environmental clearances and make doing business much easier. By using the digital “PARIVESH” portal, officials have simplified rules and shortened waiting times for green approvals without damaging nature.

The conference brought together top policymakers and car manufacturers to design a clear path forward for the country’s electric vehicle market. Yadav concluded by stating that the economy and the environment must grow together. Through teamwork, India can easily become a global hub for eco-friendly manufacturing and climate-conscious development.
