Indian-origin entrepreneur Aman Sanger has emerged as one of the youngest technology billionaires after a landmark acquisition deal in the artificial intelligence sector significantly boosted his wealth.
Sanger, 25, the cofounder and chief operating officer of Anysphere, has seen his estimated net worth rise to $5.5 billion following a $60 billion all-stock merger agreement under which SpaceX will acquire the company behind the popular AI coding platform Cursor.
The deal marks a major milestone for Anysphere, a startup founded in 2022 by Sanger and his former classmates from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The founders left the prestigious institution to pursue their vision of transforming software development through artificial intelligence.
Initially focused on building an AI copilot for the mechanical engineering sector, the company later pivoted to software development tools. The shift proved highly successful, with Cursor becoming one of the fastest-growing AI coding platforms globally. The platform enables developers to analyze entire codebases, generate complex code solutions, and automate software engineering tasks.
Born in New York, Sanger began programming at the age of 14 and later studied computer science at MIT. Alongside cofounders Michael Truell, Sualeh Asif and Arvid Lunnemark, he helped build Cursor into a major enterprise software platform.
The company’s growth has been remarkable. Cursor surpassed $1 billion in annualised revenue in late 2025 and reportedly reached approximately $4 billion in annualised revenue by early June 2026. The platform is now used by millions of developers across nearly 50,000 enterprises, including major technology firms such asNVIDIA, Adobe, Uber, Shopify and PayPal.
Reacting to the acquisition announcement, Sanger expressed excitement about advancing AI development, while SpaceX expects the transaction to be completed by the third quarter of 2026. The deal further highlights the growing convergence of artificial intelligence, software development, and advanced technology infrastructure.
