Plant trees to protect environment says Officer

HOLE ALUR

Rona Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Chandrashekar B. Kandakura called on every citizen to plant at least one tree and take responsibility for its care to help maintain environmental balance and protect natural resources for future generations.

He was speaking at an environmental awareness and tree plantation programme organized jointly by Rona Taluk Kaushalya Udyamashilate Jeevanopaya Sanjeevini Mahila Sangha, Hole Alur Gram Panchayat and Kalmeshwara High School as part of World Environment Day celebrations. The programme was inaugurated with the planting of a sapling by the executive officer.

Addressing participants, Kandakura said environmental protection has become one of the most important needs of the present time. He noted that human life is closely connected with nature and stressed that every individual should contribute towards preserving the environment through tree planting and proper maintenance of saplings.

He expressed concern over growing environmental challenges such as climate change, rising temperatures, deforestation, shrinking water resources and increasing pollution. He said greater importance should be given to eco-friendly activities to reduce these threats and create a healthier future.

The officer also emphasized the need to educate school students about environmental conservation so that future generations develop a strong sense of responsibility towards nature. During the programme, discussions were held on cleanliness, waste management, water conservation, green village development and ongoing projects related to environmental protection.

Gram Panchayat officials, teachers, students, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, villagers and other participants attended the event and took part in the awareness activities.
