Kerala’s new United Democratic Front government led by V.D. Satheesan completed portfolio allocation for its 21-member Cabinet after days of political discussions. The ministry marks the UDF’s return to power after a decade and includes several first-time ministers and legislators. Congress leaders Bindu Krishna and K.A. Thulasi became part of the Cabinet, increasing women’s representation. Ramesh Chennithala received the Home portfolio, while Satheesan retained Finance and Law departments. Disagreements over Fisheries and Health portfolios delayed the final decision. Meanwhile, veteran leader G. Sudhakaran was sworn in as Pro-tem Speaker of the Assembly.
