Cooling facilities improve darshan experience at Krishna Math

Udupi

Thousands of devotees visiting the famous Udupi Sri Krishna Math are now getting relief from the scorching summer heat, thanks to several new facilities introduced by the temple administration under the Paryaya Shiroor Math.

Despite rising temperatures in Udupi, devotees continue to arrive in large numbers, especially during the vacation season. Earlier, visitors had to stand in long queues under direct sunlight while waiting for darshan, causing discomfort for elderly devotees, children, and tourists.

To address the issue, the temple administration has installed permanent roofing along the queue lines, providing shade and protection from the heat. Cooling arrangements, including beverages and fans, have also been introduced to improve comfort for devotees waiting for darshan.

The newly introduced facilities have significantly eased the darshan experience. Devotees can now access direct darshan through the Kanaka Mantapa route, reducing waiting time and congestion. Emergency arrangements for quicker darshan have also been made for special situations.

Shiroor Math Diwan Uday Kumar Saralattaya said the administration is working to ensure better discipline and convenience in the darshan system. He explained that devotees traditionally first worship Lord Krishna through Kanakana Kindi, then visit Chandramouleshwara and Anantheshwara temples before taking darshan again through the Navagraha Kindi.

Separate queue systems have now been organized for VIPs and local devotees to streamline crowd management. Saralattaya also announced that a special identification card system will soon be introduced for local devotees who visit the temple regularly. After verification procedures, including thumb impressions and face verification, local devotees will receive access through a separate entry arrangement at a minimal cost.

He further requested local devotees to visit the temple between 2 pm and 5 pm to avoid heavy crowd congestion during peak hours.

The new facilities are being widely appreciated by devotees, with expectations that more improvements will be introduced in the coming days to enhance comfort and convenience at the temple.
