Shivamogga
At the 35th annual convocation of Kuvempu University in Shivamogga, honorary doctorates (D.Litt) were awarded to three distinguished personalities for their contributions to society, theatre, and education. The recipients are social activist Konandur Lingappa, noted theatre practitioner K.V. Akshara, and educationist Prof. H.A. Ranganath. The honours were conferred with approval from the Governor, according to the university.
Lingappa is recognised for his role in socialist movements, politics, and literature. Akshara, associated with the Ninasam theatre institute, has made significant contributions to Indian theatre through direction and translation. Prof. Ranganath is an acclaimed geneticist and former vice-chancellor, known for academic reforms and research contributions. The convocation report was read by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sharat Ananthamurthy.
