Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot urged Kuvempu University graduates to create opportunities through innovation and entrepreneurship.

Thaawarchand Gehlot, addressing the 35th convocation of Kuvempu University in Shivamogga, called upon students to become creators of opportunities rather than just job seekers. He encouraged them to embrace entrepreneurship, innovation, and startup culture to contribute to personal growth and national development.
The Governor stressed that students should actively support national initiatives such as “Make in India” and “Vocal for Local,” aligning their efforts with the vision of a developed and self-reliant India by 2047. He said youth play a crucial role in shaping a “Developed India” through economic empowerment and global competitiveness.
Highlighting the importance of adaptability, he urged students to continuously upgrade their skills and knowledge in a rapidly evolving world. He noted that innovation, lifelong learning, and social responsibility are essential for success in today’s competitive environment.
Referring to the National Education Policy 2020, he said it has transformed the education system into a more inclusive, multidisciplinary, and skill-oriented framework. He emphasized that education must go beyond degrees to instill life skills, ethics, and civic responsibility.
The Governor also urged students to address global challenges such as climate change, environmental degradation, and pollution through proactive engagement and awareness.
He further noted that Kuvempu University, named after renowned writer and thinker Kuvempu, draws inspiration from his ideals of universal humanism, equality, and progressive thought. He encouraged students to follow these values and work towards building a more inclusive society.
The event was attended by Dr M C Sudhakar, chief guest Anil D Sahasrabudhe, and Vice Chancellor Sharath Anantha Murthy along with other dignitaries.
