Haveri observes Parinibbana Day of Prof. Krishnappa

HAVERI

The 29th Parinibbana Day of Prof. B. Krishnappa, founder of the Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti, was observed in Haveri with tributes and discussions on his social work.

Speaking at the programme, Karnataka State Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Committee president Udachappa Malgi said Prof. Krishnappa worked tirelessly for the oppressed and inspired many through his struggles. He described him as a strong voice for justice and called his life a model for society.

Malgi said Krishnappa is remembered as a key leader of the Dalit movement and compared his contribution to that of Dr B.R. Ambedkar. He urged people to continue his mission against social inequality and uphold his ideals.

Several community leaders, including DSS convener Malatesh Yellapur and others from various organisations, participated in the event. They paid floral tributes and highlighted Krishnappa’s role in strengthening social awareness and unity among marginalized communities.

Speakers said his teachings continue to guide movements for equality and justice even today.
