District in-charge Minister Shivraj Thangadagi has directed officials to take urgent steps to prevent any shortage of drinking water across the district during summer.

He chaired a review meeting at the Collectorate office and assessed the current situation. Officials informed that the district has 153 gram panchayats and 722 villages, with water being supplied to 418 villages through various schemes. In about 30 villages facing shortages, water is being supplied through private borewells on contract.

Authorities said there are over 2,300 government and more than 5,500 private borewells in the district. In urban areas, water supply is currently stable and expected to remain sufficient till June.

The Minister instructed officials to regularly test water quality and ensure cleanliness of tanks, pipelines, and storage systems. He also stressed relocating pipelines near drains to avoid contamination.

To address public concerns, helplines have been set up at taluk and district levels. Officials reported that 192 complaints related to water supply and maintenance have already been received and resolved.

Tahsildars and Panchayat officials have been told to respond quickly to any water or fodder-related issues. Regular review meetings will be held at village, taluk, and district levels to monitor the situation.

Nodal officers have been appointed for each assembly constituency to oversee implementation.

Officials confirmed that sufficient funds are available and there is no shortage of fodder at present, ensuring relief for both residents and farmers in the district.
