Event turned tense as rival groups clashed over accounts, exchanged allegations, and briefly confronted each other on stage

Tension and chaos broke out once again at the Harihara Panchamasali Math during an accounting programme, where two rival groups clashed amid slogans, accusations and police intervention.
The dispute involves trustees of the Math and supporters of Vachanananda Swamiji, with both sides accusing each other of corruption and financial mismanagement. The programme was organised to present financial accounts but quickly turned into a heated confrontation.
During the event, Dharmadarshi BC Umapati began presenting the accounts when supporters of both groups started shouting slogans. Tensions escalated further when Swamiji’s supporters called trustees “thieves,” while trustee supporters responded with counter allegations against Swamiji’s side.
The situation worsened when trustee H. S. Nagaraj and Swamiji’s followers engaged in a verbal clash on stage. Some supporters attempted to enter the stage, leading to a brief scuffle and attempts at physical confrontation.
At one point, trustee H. S. Nagaraj made strong remarks during the confrontation, further escalating emotions among both groups. Youth leaders also reportedly tried to intervene, leading to additional confusion inside the Math premises.
Police personnel rushed in to control the situation and separated both groups before it could turn violent. Heavy security was already deployed at the venue due to expected tension, which helped prevent major injuries or damage.
Earlier, Swamiji had accused trustees of large-scale financial irregularities, demanding full transparency in the handling of donations and assets. Trustees, on the other hand, rejected the allegations and insisted they were being targeted unfairly.
A viral video circulating on social media further intensified the controversy, showing internal remarks and disagreements within the organisation, triggering wider debate among followers.
Authorities confirmed that the situation was brought under control quickly and the accounting programme was later completed under strict police supervision.
Officials have since increased security at the Math to prevent further clashes while discussions and disputes over financial accountability continue within the community.
