Ahead of the annual fair of Sri Huligemma Devi Temple at Huligi, Deputy Commissioner Dr Suresh B Itnal has directed officials to take strict steps to protect the health of devotees attending the event.
During a review meeting, he instructed that only clean and tested drinking water should be supplied to visitors. Authorities have been asked to clean drains in and around the village and temple premises before and after the fair, and to use bleaching powder to maintain hygiene.
Officials were also told to ensure proper cleaning of water tanks and prevent stagnant wastewater to control mosquito breeding. The district administration has stressed maintaining sanitation throughout the fair period.
The Deputy Commissioner directed District Health and Food Safety officials to inspect food prepared for devotees daily at Dasoha Bhavan. Necessary materials such as bleaching powder and phenol will be arranged by the temple authorities.
To provide medical support, health officials will deploy doctors and staff for five days during the fair. Two temporary health centres and an emergency treatment unit near Munirabad Dam will be set up, along with ambulance services.
The administration aims to ensure a safe and healthy environment for thousands of devotees expected to attend the fair. Officials said continuous monitoring will be carried out during the event to prevent any health issues and provide quick medical assistance if needed.
