Three arrested in online loan fraud case

Raichur

Cyber Crime Police in Raichur have arrested three individuals for allegedly running an online loan fraud racket. The accused—Mahesh Chillal (27), Veeresh (24), and Prabhu (34)—were reportedly operating from Lakshana Layout behind the Government Polytechnic College in the city. Police said the group lured victims by promising quick online loans and collected sensitive documents like Aadhaar cards and bank passbooks. They allegedly used multiple SIM cards and QR codes to divert money into various accounts without disbursing any loans. A case was registered on April 21 under the IT Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections. Following investigation, a raid was conducted under the supervision of senior police officials, leading to their arrest. Authorities seized mobile phones, SIM cards, a car, and a motorcycle. The accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
