Adani group makes bold nuke power move

AHMEDABAD

The Adani Group is charging ahead into the world of nuclear power. Adani Power announced it has created a new company specifically dedicated to atomic energy, called Rawatbhata-Raj Atomic Energy Limited (RRAEL).

This is a major sign that one of India’s biggest business giants is ready to help power the nation’s future with nuclear energy.

The new company was officially set up with a starting capital of ₹5 lakh. It is part of a larger structure under Adani Power, designed to focus entirely on nuclear projects. Interestingly, Adani didn’t stop there. Another branch of the group started a second nuclear-focused firm called Coastal-Maha Atomic Energy Limited. This sister company will handle everything from generating atomic power to sending it through the electrical grid.

These back-to-back moves come at a perfect time for India’s energy goals. Right now, the country produces about 8.7 gigawatts of nuclear power. However, the government has set a massive target to hit 100 gigawatts by 2047. To reach that goal, India needs private companies to step up and build more plants alongside state-run projects.

By setting up these specialized units, the Adani Group is positioning itself to be a leader in India’s “clean energy” roadmap. As the country tries to move away from coal and reduce pollution, nuclear energy is becoming a key part of the plan. These new companies are the first blocks in what could become a massive network of atomic power plants across India.
