Chitradurga
District Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority President R. Shivanna stated that the 29th installment of the Gruhalakshmi scheme has been released and will be credited to eligible women beneficiaries within the next two to three days. A total of 3,88,341 beneficiaries in the district are expected to receive financial assistance, with the government allocating ₹77.66 crore for this installment.
The Gruhalakshmi scheme, a flagship initiative of the state government, provides ₹2,000 per month directly to the bank accounts of women heads of households. The program aims to strengthen the financial independence of women and has significantly improved economic stability for many families. Officials noted that beneficiaries are utilizing the funds for household expenses, children’s education, healthcare, and savings, leading to increased confidence and decision-making power among women.
In a separate initiative, the district hospital, in collaboration with SS Narayana Health Hospital, Davanagere, will conduct free heart check-ups for children on the first Wednesday of every month. The screenings will take place at the Mother and Child Hospital within the district hospital premises between 10:30 AM and 1:00 PM.
Pediatric cardiologist Dr. G. S. Anil Kumar will examine children for symptoms such as recurring infections, bluish discoloration of skin or lips, breathing difficulties, irregular heartbeat, and persistent cough. Parents have been advised to utilize this free service for early detection and treatment of heart conditions. District Surgeon Dr. S. P. Ravindra provided contact details for further information.
Additionally, officials have announced that self-enumeration for the upcoming Census of India 2027 will be conducted from April 1 to April 15, 2026. Residents can submit their household details online through the official portal. Authorities assured that all submitted data will remain confidential and emphasized the importance of public participation in ensuring accurate data for national development planning.
These combined initiatives reflect the administration’s focus on women empowerment, public health, and efficient governance through digital participation.
