Job Scam Busted: Two Arrested for Cheating Youth with Fake Forest Department Posts

Tumakuru
A major job fraud has come to light in Tumakuru district, where several young job seekers were allegedly cheated of lakhs of rupees with false promises of employment in the forest department. The Tumakuru Rural Police Station has registered a case and arrested two accused in connection with the scam. According to police reports, the accused identified as Pavan and Kiran lured nearly 15 unemployed youths by promising them government jobs in forest areas near Mysuru. The victims were each asked to pay amounts ranging from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh, under the pretext of securing official postings in the forest department.

The accused allegedly created an elaborate scheme to convince the victims of the authenticity of their claims. They issued fake appointment letters using forged letterheads resembling those of senior forest department officials. To further strengthen their deception, the accused even arranged for a so-called training program for the candidates.

This training was conducted at a farmhouse in Vaddarahalli village in Tumakuru taluk, where the victims were made to believe they were undergoing official preparation before joining duty. The use of a physical training setup added credibility to the fraud, making it difficult for the victims to suspect foul play initially.

However, doubts arose when the promised job postings failed to materialize even after the completion of the training. Realizing they had been deceived, the victims approached the Tumakuru Rural Police and lodged a formal complaint.

Acting swiftly, the police launched an investigation and managed to trace and arrest the two main accused. They are currently being interrogated to uncover further details, including whether more individuals were involved in the racket and if similar scams were carried out elsewhere.

Officials have urged job seekers to remain cautious and verify the authenticity of recruitment processes, especially when large sums of money are demanded. The police have assured that strict action will be taken against those involved, and efforts are ongoing to recover the money lost by the victims.
