Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reflected on major and historic events of 2025, stating that the year infused India with even greater self-confidence and prepared the nation to step into 2026 with fresh hopes and resolutions. Addressing the country through his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister said memories of achievements, discussions, and moments that united the nation were vivid as the year drew to a close.

In just a few days, the year 2026 will knock on our door. As I speak today, memories of the entire year are swirling in my mind, Modi said, adding that 2025 gave India many moments that made every citizen proud. He noted that India’s imprint was visible everywhere—from national security and sports arenas to scientific laboratories and global platforms—underscoring the country’s expanding influence.

Highlighting national security, the Prime Minister praised the Indian Armed Forces for their decisive action against terrorism in May. He described Operation Sindoor as a symbol of pride, asserting that the world witnessed India’s firm stance on security. According to Modi, the operation evoked widespread expressions of love and devotion for Maa Bharati across the country, reflecting a deep sense of national unity.

The Prime Minister also recalled cultural milestones, noting that 2025 marked 150 years of the national song Vande Mataram. He said citizens enthusiastically participated in celebrations and shared messages under the hashtag VandeMataram150, demonstrating collective pride in India’s heritage. Sports achievements were another highlight of the year.
