Panic gripped Hunsur after masked robbers looted a jewellery shop at gunpoint in a daring daylight robbery.

A shocking incident of armed robbery was reported in Hunsur town of Mysuru district on Sunday, where five masked robbers looted gold and diamond ornaments worth an estimated ₹4 to ₹5 crore in broad daylight. The robbery took place at Sky Golds and Diamonds, located behind the Hunsur bus stand, sending shockwaves across the town.
According to preliminary information, the five accused arrived on motorcycles and entered the jewellery shop during business hours. Masked and armed with guns, they threatened the shop staff and customers, creating panic inside the premises. Within minutes, the robbers reportedly stuffed gold and diamond ornaments into a bag and fled the scene before anyone could react.
Local residents and shopkeepers in the busy bus stand area were stunned by the audacity of the crime, as the robbery occurred in full public view during the daytime. Eyewitnesses said the entire operation was swift and well-coordinated, leaving little time for resistance or immediate police intervention.
As soon as information about the robbery surfaced, Hunsur police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. Senior police officials also visited the scene to assess the situation and gather details. Inspector General of Police Boralingaiah and Additional Superintendent of Police Nagesh inspected the jewellery shop and reviewed the preliminary findings with local officers.
Police sources confirmed that the jewellery shop, owned by a businessman from Kerala, was inaugurated on April 27, 2015, and has been operating in the town for nearly a decade. CCTV footage from the shop and surrounding areas is being examined to identify the culprits and trace their escape route. Checkposts have been alerted, and special teams have been formed to track down the robbers. A case has been registered, and police said all possible angles, including inter-district and interstate links, are being probed.
