The Bashettihalli Town Panchayat elections in Doddaballapura taluk and the by-election to the 21st ward of the Hemavathipete Municipal Council are set to be held on December 21, with authorities confirming that all arrangements are firmly in place. Election officials stated that the process has entered its final stage, ensuring smooth and transparent polling across the designated areas.
Located in Doddaballapura, the polling exercise will cover voters under the jurisdiction of the Bashettihalli Town Panchayat and the Hemavathipete ward, where the by-poll is being conducted. Officials from the Election Commission, along with the taluk administration, Town Panchayat authorities and the Municipal Council, have jointly coordinated the preparations over the past several days.
As part of the logistical arrangements, electronic voting machines (EVMs) and other essential polling materials were dispatched and reached their respective polling booths on Saturday. Election staff and security personnel reported to the polling stations after collecting the necessary equipment from the mustering, de-mustering and counting centre established at Kongadiyappa High School in the city. The movement of personnel and materials was carried out under strict supervision to ensure timely deployment and adherence to election protocols.
Authorities have also ensured adequate security arrangements at all polling booths to maintain law and order during the voting process. Police personnel and home guards have been deployed in sensitive areas, while election officials have appealed to voters to cooperate and exercise their franchise peacefully.
Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer A.B. Basavaraju personally visited the mustering centre to inspect the readiness of election arrangements. During his visit, he reviewed the distribution of voting machines and other materials, interacted with officials, and assessed the preparedness of staff assigned to polling duties. He also briefed election personnel on their responsibilities, emphasising the importance of conducting free, fair and orderly elections.
