Preparations are in full swing in Malavalli town of Mandya district ahead of the visit of President of India Droupadi Murmu on December 16. The President is scheduled to attend the 1066th Jayanti Mahotsava of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathri Shivayogi, being organised by Suttur Mutt from December 15. In view of the high-profile visit, elaborate security arrangements are being put in place under the supervision of central and state authorities.

As part of these preparations, officials from the Delhi-based security agencies conducted a helicopter mock drill on Sunday at a newly constructed helipad near Marehalli, on the outskirts of Malavalli. The exercise was carried out to assess readiness and ensure flawless coordination during the President’s arrival. The drill demonstrated the exact landing procedures, positioning of the helicopter, and emergency response measures to be followed when the President arrives at the venue.

The mock drill was conducted in the presence of a team of security officials and Mandya Deputy Commissioner Dr Kumar, who oversaw the arrangements and reviewed the preparedness on the ground. Officials practically demonstrated where and how the helicopter would land, along with related security protocols.

In anticipation of the President’s visit, Malavalli town has been placed under tight security following directions from central security agencies. Police deployment has been significantly increased, and strict vigilance is being maintained along the designated routes. Several precautionary measures have been implemented, including restrictions on vehicular movement, removal of footpath vendors, and enhanced monitoring of public spaces.

Authorities have appealed to the public to cooperate with security personnel and adhere to the restrictions to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the President’s visit and the associated religious celebrations.
