A shocking incident has been reported from Vijayanagara district, where a Gram Panchayat member was brutally attacked by stray dogs. The attack resulted in grievous injuries, including the severing of two fingers, causing panic among residents in the region.
The incident occurred at Halammana Thopu in Uchangidurga of Harapanahalli taluk. According to reports, Gram Panchayat member Manjunath had gone for his routine morning walk when a group of stray dogs suddenly pounced on him. The unexpected attack left him with severe bite injuries, and in the chaos, two of his fingers were reportedly cut off.
Local residents rushed to his aid and arranged for immediate medical attention. Manjunath was shifted to Davanagere District Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors are said to be monitoring his condition closely as he recovers from the traumatic injuries.
The incident has raised serious concerns among villagers, who say the stray dog menace has been increasing in recent months. Many fear walking in isolated areas, especially during early mornings and late evenings, due to the rising number of aggressive stray dogs in the vicinity.
Residents have urged authorities to take immediate measures to control stray dog populations and ensure public safety. They insist that similar attacks can be prevented only if stringent action is taken by civic bodies to address the growing problem.
