HAVERI FAMILY TRAGEDY

Man ends life after daughter-in-law booked for murder

Haveri

At a time when crime is increasingly normalized and even glorified by some, there remain individuals who value dignity above all else. In a deeply tragic incident from Haveri district, a man who could not bear the humiliation brought upon his family chose to end his life.

The deceased has been identified as Dadapira, a 38-year-old resident of Venkatapur village. Known in the community as a quiet, honorable man, he had been living peacefully with his wife and was well-regarded among his relatives. His younger brother, Mohammed Rafiq, got married just eight months ago to a woman named Noorbaby from Gutala. After their marriage, the couple moved to another town for work.

However, things reportedly turned turbulent between Rafiq and Noorbaby soon after. Frequent quarrels became a regular occurrence, and the family was aware of the disputes. Despite several mediation attempts, both families failed to find a solution.

Matters took a shocking turn when Noorbaby was accused in a murder case, and police registered a case against her. This unexpected and serious allegation cast a shadow over the entire family. The news spread quickly in the village, leading to gossip, stigma and mounting pressure on the family’s reputation.

Unable to bear the shame and emotional burden of the situation, Dadapira reportedly slipped into deep distress. Feeling dishonored by the accusations against his daughter-in-law and fearing the social consequences, he took the extreme step of hanging himself. His death has left the entire village in shock.

Police have launched an investigation into both the suicide and the murder case involving the daughter-in-law. Villagers described Dadapira as a man of principles who preferred to endure hardship rather than compromise his dignity.
