Historic ceremony celebrates Ram Mandir completion with cultural pride

A historic moment of faith, devotion, unity, pride witnessed

Ayodhya

Prime Minister Narendra Modi fulfilled his promise to honour Lord Ram’s legacy by unfurling a saffron flag atop the newly built Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on Tuesday. This event marked a major milestone in the temple’s completion, four years after he laid the foundation stone in August 2020. The Prime Minister said the flag symbolises India’s cultural rise and represents Lord Ram’s values and ideals.

The triangular flag, measuring ten feet by twenty feet, displays a sun symbol linked with Lord Ram’s bravery. It was hoisted on the temple’s highest peak, the 191-foot shikhar, on the occasion of Vivah Panchami, the celebration of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita’s marriage. Senior leaders including Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the ceremony, showing its importance.

Modi said the moment reflects India’s cultural consciousness and pride in heritage. He urged citizens to awaken the “Ram” within themselves for the nation’s progress and empowerment by 2047.

The Ram Mandir movement has shaped India’s politics and society for decades. The Babri Masjid, built in 1528, stood at the site believed to be Lord Ram’s birthplace. Its demolition in 1992 led to riots and tensions nationwide. The Supreme Court’s 2019 verdict granting the land to Hindus ended the dispute legally, clearing the path for the temple’s construction.

With the temple nearly ready, Ayodhya is set to become a pilgrimage centre. New airports, railways, roads and hotels are being developed, promising economic growth. For millions of Hindus in India and abroad, the saffron flag represents a return of faith after centuries of struggle. The temple now stands as a symbol of culture and progress.
