YADGIR
Villagers of Badiyala in Yadgir district have accused local officials of negligence after industrial waste from factories in the Kadechur–Badiyala industrial area reportedly led to the death of hundreds of fish and the contamination of nearby water sources.
According to residents, several factories have been illegally releasing toxic effluents at night, polluting a stream that flows through the village. The contaminated water has resulted in the mass death of fish and other aquatic species, while cattle and other animals drinking from the stream have also fallen ill or died.
Locals say they have repeatedly reported the pollution to authorities, but no action has been taken so far. The negligence, they claim, has worsened the environmental crisis, spreading a foul stench across the area and making the water unfit for human use.
The villagers are demanding an immediate investigation into the source of the waste discharge and strict enforcement of environmental safety norms. The incident has once again highlighted the poor regulation of industrial waste disposal and the urgent need for accountability to protect the region’s fragile ecosystem and community health.
