Punjab FC have strengthened their attack with the signing of Nigerian centre-forward Nsungusi Jnr Effiong on a one-year contract, joining the squad directly in Goa ahead of the AIFF Super Cup 2025. Effiong, 25, previously played for Romanian side FC UTA Arad and brings valuable European and Central Asian experience to the team.
The 6’4” striker started his career with International Allies in Ghana before moving to Europe, spending three seasons with Danish club HB Koge, where he made 58 appearances and scored 11 goals. He later gained experience in Central Asia, featuring for FC Atyrau in Kazakhstan (7 goals in 25 matches) and Neftchi Fergana in Uzbekistan (7 goals in 24 matches).
Effiong expressed excitement about joining Punjab FC, stating, “I’ve come here to bring a new level of attacking threat… Get ready for goals as I’m here to make a real impact on this team’s fortunes.”
