PM inaugurated Chhattisgarh’s new Assembly building describing it as a “pilgrimage site of democracy”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said Chhattisgarh’s 25-year journey has transformed it from a region once known for Naxal violence and backwardness into a model of prosperity, security, and stability. Speaking after inaugurating the new legislative assembly building in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, he said the Assembly must serve as a centre for public service and development, guiding the state’s future.
PM Modi urged lawmakers to make laws that simplify citizens’ lives and reduce unnecessary government interference, emphasizing the principle of “Nagrik Devo Bhava” (Citizen is God). He said Chhattisgarh’s progress reflects the hard work of its people and the vision of past BJP governments.
Highlighting India’s success in tackling terrorism and extremism, the Prime Minister said the state is now moving towards being free from Maoist violence. He noted that development and happiness have reached previously affected areas.
Modi also linked Chhattisgarh’s progress to India’s broader democratic and developmental journey, citing the sacred Sengol as a symbol of the nation’s democratic heritage. He said India is advancing by preserving its traditions while embracing progress.
Marking Chhattisgarh’s foundation day, Modi expressed confidence that by 2047, when India celebrates 100 years of independence, the state will play a key role in building a developed India. Earlier, he unveiled a statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the new Assembly premises.
