Karnataka Winter Assembly Session to Begin December

Belagavi

Speaker Basavaraj Horatti has announced that the winter session of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly is likely to begin from December 8, 2025, in Belagavi and is expected to last around 10 days.

Addressing the media, Horatti stressed the need to focus on developmental issues in North Karnataka. He expressed concern that legislators from the northern region have not been proactive, unlike their counterparts from South Karnataka who actively raise development matters in the Assembly.

To ensure fair attention, Horatti said one day, Thursday, will be dedicated specifically to discussions on North Karnataka. A circular outlining this plan will be sent to all MLAs within the next two days. “We will make sure that no topic related to North Karnataka’s development is ignored during the session,” he said.

Horatti also raised concern about the increasing influence of money in elections. He criticised both voters who accept cash and politicians who offer it, saying, “It is wrong to vote by taking or giving money.” He expressed disappointment that many MLAs have remained silent on this issue, highlighting the need for ethical practices in the political process.

The Speaker’s announcement underlines the government’s commitment to addressing regional disparities in development and promoting fair and transparent electoral practices. Legislators are expected to discuss key issues ranging from infrastructure and education to employment and social welfare for the northern districts.
