The Cauvery Sankramana at Talacauvery near Bhagamandala drew thousands of devotees on Friday, as Goddess Cauvery emerged as a sacred spring in the Brahma Kundike during Makara lagna at 1.44 pm. The event was marked with elaborate rituals, beginning at 11.30 am, including Sahasra Namarchane, Pushparchane, and Kunkumarchane, performed by chief priest Guru Rajachar. Devotees from neighboring districts and states thronged the temple to witness the Cauvery Theerthodbhava and seek blessings.
Notable attendees included Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Wadiyar, Virajpet MLA A S Ponnanna, Madikeri MLA Manthar Gowda, actress Harshika Poonacha with her husband actor Bhuvan Ponnanna. Participants chanted ‘Ukki Baa Thayi’ and offered prayers to the goddess for well-being, peace, and prosperity.
Speaking on the occasion, Yaduveer Wadiyar highlighted the significance of Cauvery Sankramana in Kodagu, sharing that he undertook a padayatra from the Bhagandeshwara temple at Bhagamandala to participate this year. Harshika Poonacha expressed gratitude to Cauveramma for fulfilling devotees’ wishes, citing personal blessings, while MLA Ponnanna extended prayers for the welfare of all.
Following the emergence, priests showered sacred water on devotees, symbolizing divine blessings. The event was celebrated with fervor, devotion, and enthusiasm, reinforcing the cultural and spiritual significance of Cauvery Sankramana for the people of Kodagu and beyond.
