Chitradurga
Residents of Chitradurga district are living in fear as the notorious “Chaddi Gang” has become increasingly active in Challakere and Hiriyur taluks. CCTV footage has captured the gang attempting robberies armed with lethal weapons, yet the police have so far failed to apprehend the culprits, escalating public anxiety.
The gang, which recently targeted homes in Mudhol and was foiled by a vigilant young woman from the US, has now extended its operations into Chitradurga. Over the past two to three months, the gang has been repeatedly spotted in the district, engaging in theft, attempted house robberies, and other criminal activities, creating widespread fear among citizens.
Despite multiple incidents being reported across various police stations, the gang continues to operate openly, showcasing its audacity. Locals have expressed frustration and anger over the apparent inaction of law enforcement, questioning the effectiveness of policing in the region.
Attempts to seek clarity from SP Ranjith were met with vague responses, indicating that discussions on the matter would follow later. Meanwhile, citizens remain apprehensive, as repeated public appearances of the gang without police intervention have left them feeling vulnerable. The Chaddi Gang’s persistent criminal activity, coupled with perceived police silence, has intensified public outrage and raised serious concerns about safety and law enforcement effectiveness in Chitradurga.
Residents urge the authorities to act promptly, apprehend the gang members, and restore a sense of security in the district before further incidents occur.
