A shocking incident took place at the City Civil Court in Bengaluru when an accused in a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case died after leaping from the fifth floor of the court building.

The incident has raised serious concerns about security measures and the psychological state of accused individuals brought for hearings.

According to police, the man had been escorted to the court for a scheduled hearing on Wednesday. While proceedings were underway, he suddenly slipped away, ran towards the upper floors of the building, and jumped from the fifth floor in an apparent suicide attempt. Court staff and security personnel were left stunned by the unexpected turn of events.

Police officers on duty immediately rushed to the spot and, with the help of others present, shifted the severely injured man to a nearby hospital. Despite prompt medical attention, doctors declared that he succumbed to multiple injuries sustained in the fall.

The incident has prompted questions over how the accused managed to access the higher floors without being stopped and whether additional safeguards are needed to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Officials stated that a detailed inquiry will be conducted to ascertain the exact sequence of events and to strengthen security protocols inside court premises. The incident has cast a shadow over the day’s proceedings and highlighted the immense pressure faced by individuals involved in sensitive criminal cases.
