Shweta Tripathi has begun shooting for the highly awaited Mirzapur: The Movie, reprising her much-loved role as Gajgamini ‘Golu’ Gupta. Known for her strong performance in the Mirzapur web series, Shweta is now bringing her iconic character to the big screen, adding a new layer to the popular franchise.
Filming has started in Benaras, a city deeply tied to the Mirzapur universe. Sources revealed that Shweta was emotional yet thrilled as she returned to the city and the role that has been close to her heart for years.
Speaking about the experience, Shweta shared, Golu is more than a character to me — she’s been a companion through my journey. Watching her story continue on the big screen feels magical. Benaras is like my second home, holding memories of many milestones in my career.
She added, From Masaan to Mirzapur, Escaype Live, and Kalkoot, every project here has given me something special. My trainer, Tridev Pandey, who’s like a brother, is also from Benaras. This city keeps drawing me back — for its warmth, its people, and its food.
