Leaders criticize government’s slow response, urging swift action to aid struggling citizens.
BJP leader CT Ravi has strongly urged the Karnataka government to take immediate and comprehensive action to compensate residents affected by the recent floods in the Kalyana Karnataka region.
Speaking on the issue, Ravi criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, saying the CM appears to treat the flood season as if it were a film shoot rather than a crisis demanding urgent attention.
“During a movie shoot, every location is carefully inspected, preparations are made in advance, and the director coordinates the action. This is not the way to respond to a natural disaster. There should be real sensitivity for people’s suffering,” Ravi said.
He further alleged that the government’s concern has diminished since Siddaramaiah assumed office for the second term, adding that the CM’s visit to flood-hit areas seemed more symbolic than substantive.
Ravi accused the government of prioritizing appearances over action, describing how officials conducted city rounds in a manner that avoided getting their clothes or footwear wet, highlighting a disconnect from the hardships faced by citizens. He insisted that officials should have placed all other work on hold to focus on immediate relief efforts.
The BJP leader called for urgent disbursement of compensation to flood-affected families and emphasized that relief measures must be executed on a “war footing.” He stressed that the government must respond swiftly to alleviate the suffering of citizens and ensure that no delay compromises the lives and livelihoods of those impacted by the floods. This statement reflects mounting political pressure on the state administration to act decisively amid growing public frustration in flood-hit areas.
