The Dakshina Kannada Swimming Association awarded nearly ₹1.75 lakh in cash prizes to 60 swimmers and eight coaches from the district at its annual general meeting for the 2024-25 season. The awards recognised athletes who excelled at state and national-level competitions.
The prizes were presented by Vivekraj Poojary, CEO of Panama Corporation, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. Each swimmer and coach also received a commemorative memento in appreciation of their achievements and contribution to the sport.
The annual general meeting began with the association’s president, Yatish Baikampadi, addressing the gathering and highlighting the district’s swimming accomplishments over the year. Secretary Mahesh K presented the annual report, followed by treasurer Kannan D, who tabled the accounts for approval.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sherly Rego, who lauded the efforts of the swimmers, coaches, and association officials in promoting swimming in Dakshina Kannada.
The awards aim to motivate young athletes and their trainers, encouraging them to pursue excellence at higher competitive levels. The Dakshina Kannada Swimming Association continues to play a pivotal role in nurturing swimming talent in the district, fostering both skill development and sportsmanship among participants.
