A grant of Rs 850 crore has been released for the Kalyan Karnataka region under the Health Innovation Scheme, with 70 percent of the projects completed and the tender process underway, said Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao. He made the announcement while inaugurating the Mother and Child Hospital building and Taluk Panchayat Office building, and laying the foundation stone for the District Hospital building, GTTC building, and Akkamahadevi Women’s University Postgraduate Centre hostel, during the Sindhanur Dasara festival at Satya Garden.

Of the total grant, Rs 350 crore has been provided by KKRDB and Rs 500 crore by the state government. The Health Department has established new primary health centers (PHCs) and community health centers (CHCs) in the region to meet local healthcare needs. Eight PHCs have been sanctioned for Raichur district, five PHCs have been upgraded to CHCs, and a CHC has also been approved for Raichur city.

District in-charge Minister Dr. Sharanaprakash Patil highlighted the expansion of GTTC centers in the state. Previously, there were 33 centers with only 2,500 students. With five new centers sanctioned, including Sindhanur and Raichur Rural, the number of students has risen to 6,000 due to focused initiatives and publicity.

The event was also attended by MLA Hampanagou Badarli, MLA R. Basanagowda Thurvihala, MLCs A. Vasanthakumar and Sharangowda Patil Biyapur, and City Council President Manjula Prabhuraj.

Meanwhile, heavy rains have caused crop damage in Kalaburagi, Bidar, Yadgir, and Raichur districts. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inspected Kalaburagi, and agriculture and revenue officials are expected to submit a detailed survey report on crop losses and casualties soon, said Dr. Sharanaprakash Patil.
