Tejashwi slams Nitish, promises fast Bihar growth

The former Deputy CM promised ₹2,500 monthly aid to vulnerable women under “Mai Bahin Maan Yojana” if elected

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday criticised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, claiming that he has grown old and is no longer fit to govern. Speaking at the “Karpuri Ati Pichhda Adhikar Samvad” in Patna, Tejashwi said Bihar must develop at a faster pace and cannot afford weak leadership.

“Nitish Kumar is no longer fit to run Bihar. He has grown old. The state needs rapid development. We must build a new Bihar,” Tejashwi declared. He alleged that the ruling NDA has exploited extremely backward communities as a mere vote bank, while his party would make them a “power bank.”

The former Deputy Chief Minister also highlighted his promise to launch the “Mai Bahin Maan Yojana” if the RJD comes to power. The scheme, part of the RJD-Congress alliance’s electoral agenda, pledges monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500 to women from backward and economically vulnerable families across Bihar.

“Change is bound to happen. A large number of women are joining us from every block and panchayat. This shows their strong desire for change,” he told reporters.

Tejashwi also attacked the NDA government, calling it a “Nakalchi” or copycat administration with no vision. He warned that the ruling alliance may try to adopt policies announced by his party but said people could clearly see the difference.

As Bihar prepares for the 2025 Assembly elections, Tejashwi’s remarks set the tone for a direct challenge to Nitish Kumar’s leadership, with promises of rapid development, women’s welfare schemes, and empowerment of extremely backward communities.
