Priyanka Gandhi accuses NDA of using cash for votes

Priyanka Gandhi promises women’s allowances, land, jobs, and empowerment initiatives

Patna

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday urged women voters in Bihar to recognise their power and vote for change in the upcoming Assembly elections. Speaking at the “Shakti Adhikar Mahila Samvad” programme at Sadakat Ashram, Patna, she accused the NDA of attempting to buy votes through cash transfers. “Women don’t realise their strength, but political parties do. That’s why they are given Rs 10,000 before elections,” she said, appealing to women to consider their daily struggles rather than money offered by the NDA.

Priyanka Gandhi unveiled a five-point promise for women and landless families if the Grand Alliance comes to power. The plan includes a monthly allowance of Rs 2,500 per woman, higher honourariums for Jeevika sisters, Anganwadi and Asha workers, health insurance up to Rs 25 lakh per family, free land allotment to landless families registered in women’s names, and job creation schemes to reduce male migration.

Targeting the Nitish Kumar government, she said women bear the dual burden of family and society, yet the administration has failed to empower them. Women professionals at the event shared grievances, while Priyanka Gandhi interacted with attendees through selfies, handshakes, and leading them in patriotic songs.

After the Patna event, she flew to Motihari’s Gandhi Maidan to address the “Har Ghar Adhikar Rally,” accompanied by State Congress President Rajesh Ram, party in-charge Krishna Allavaru, and several MPs. The Congress leader emphasised women’s rights, economic security, and the importance of their vote in shaping Bihar’s future.
