Maharashtra CM Fadnavis meets PM Modi for flood aid

Fadnavis proposed Defence Corridors, Dahisar land transfer, and infrastructure projects

New Delhi

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday to discuss the impact of recent heavy rains and floods on farmers in the state. He submitted a memorandum seeking substantial Central assistance, to which PM Modi assured full support for Maharashtra’s farmers.

Apart from flood relief, Fadnavis raised key developmental issues, including the state’s Defence Corridor projects, concessions for steel production in Gadchiroli, and the transfer of a 58-acre Dahisar East land parcel owned by the Airports Authority of India. He requested area-limit concessions for the Gadchiroli Steel City project, which has already attracted over Rs 1 lakh crore in investments. The project aims to produce green steel at costs lower than in China and unlock large-scale development once the region is free from Naxal influence.

Fadnavis also proposed three Defence Corridors—Pune-Ahilyanagar-Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Amravati-Wardha-Nagpur-Savner, and Nashik-Dhule—highlighting Maharashtra’s role in producing 30% of India’s arms and ammunition. The corridors are expected to attract investments and generate significant employment, with MoUs worth Rs 60,000 crore already signed.

Regarding the Dahisar East land, he urged its transfer to BMC for public use and development, resolving local height restriction issues. Fadnavis also briefed PM Modi on the upcoming FinTech Conference, Navi Mumbai Airport, and Metro-3 projects.

Earlier, the CM met Vice President CP Radhakrishnan at the Vice-President’s Enclave, discussing ongoing state initiatives and development priorities.

This engagement reinforced Maharashtra’s focus on disaster relief, infrastructure development, industrial growth, and strategic investments, with the Central Government promising continued cooperation.
