In today’s globalized world, even a capable entrepreneur’s success depends greatly on personal knowledge and thinking, said SJMIT Engineering College Principal PB Bharath. He spoke at the inauguration of a one-day incubation workshop organized by the Industries and Commerce Department, District Industries Center, Karnataka State Marketing Communication and Advertising Limited, and SJM Polytechnic College on Thursday.
Joint Director of the District Industrial Center B. Anand highlighted that Karnataka sees around 10 lakh graduates annually. He noted that government jobs, once largely determined by exam marks, are increasingly competitive, and many candidates fail interviews despite passing entrance tests. Anand urged students to look beyond government employment and explore self-employment opportunities in various sectors.
District Lead Bank Manager M Raghavendra encouraged students to utilize their academic years effectively, contribute to society, and leverage government schemes while saving money. SV Ravi Shankar, Principal of SJM Polytechnic College, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing practical skill development and entrepreneurship.
The program saw the participation of Deputy Director of District Industrial Center BK Manjunathaswamy, KSMCA Manager R Maruti, entrepreneur Nagaraj, event programmer Praveen, SJM College Prof Savita, students, and SJM Polytechnic staff.
“No matter how high a position one holds, it is just a job. A great entrepreneur generates employment for thousands. Today’s students should harness their knowledge and thinking skills to become successful entrepreneurs,” PB Bharath stated.
